Growing up in the studio backlots of Los Angeles, Katharine Rhee was destined to become an aspiring filmmaker. As a child, Kat was occupied with the universal babysitter: television. Discovering new worlds of visual story telling ignited an obsession. Kat's curiousity of what happened behind the scenes blossomed into the desire to become a producer. At 13, she produced her middle school's news show. Throughout high school, Kat had studied sitcom writing and producing with US Performing Arts at Pepperdine University and at University of California Los Angeles.

Katharine continued her studies at Columbia College Chicago focusing on production management. She produced numerous short films and teamed up with the Splot Studios crew to produce the short western Pancha. In her final year, Kat worked on several commercials (LemonHeads, Public Storage) in addition to interning two independent features (From the Head, Sassy Pants). While interning on Sassy Pants, she mastered the art of wardrobe working both Chicago (White Sox commercial) as well as Los Angeles (True Blood). In the summer 2011, Kat costume designed her first feature Mosquita y Mari which premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January of 2012.
